Jaunts along the Spring line - Your 6 possibilities

From Cousin Tim  - guest contributor

First off what is the Springline? Well, it is where one set of geology met another and created a condition where the water bubbles up between the rocks as a spring.

Spring means water source = people say lets make a settlement here = oh, and now we are a village or a town.  All this happens across 1000 years +/-.

NOTE The B4009 road, through Buckinghamshire, is just of the dastardly M40. It is the springline road, the Lower Icknield Way in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, at the foot of the Chilterns

Jaunts

1. Holy Trinity, Bledlow  Grade 1 listed. One of the top 1,000 best churches in England. It has the oldest church doors in Buckinghamshire.

Bledlow  Famous for its font :)

2. Crowell Church, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, flint building. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowell,_Oxfordshire
we could walk up to the Ridgeway and onto the BBOWT nature reserve Oakley Hill, also onto the Chinnor Hill nature reserve, also via the Ridgeway.

3. St Nicholas, Britwell Salome, near Watlington. This church is signposted from the B4009, although you don’t see it from the road.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britwell_Salome    and an  interesting YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJHh6jPsUaI  and this https://thechurchexporer.blogspot.com/2014/07/st-nicholas-britwell-salome.html

More Jaunts

4. All Saints CHURCH, Little Kimble, on the B4009. Their water spring bubbles up in the church yard

4a. St Peter and St Paul, Ellesborough (on the B4009) and Grangelands nature reserve nearby.

5. St Mary’s, Radnage and Yoesden nature reserve nearby.

St Mary’s is one of my favourite churches, very special interior, a treat worth waiting for.
